How to conduct job interviews

Section 4 : Listen actively

66%

Pay close attention and actively listen to the candidate’s responses during job interviews, taking notes if necessary. Show genuine interest in what they’re saying and provide feedback or follow-up questions based on their answers.

If a candidate mentions a specific tool or technology they’ve used, ask them to elaborate on how they utilised it in their previous role. This not only clarifies their proficiency but also demonstrates your engagement in the conversation.

Failing to listen actively can lead to missed information and a superficial assessment of the candidate’s capabilities. Active listening ensures a comprehensive evaluation and helps build rapport with the candidate.
