How to conduct job interviews

Section 2 : Create a structured format

33%

A structured interview format helps ensure consistency and fairness in the evaluation process. Develop a set of core questions that address the essential skills and qualities needed for the role. This provides a baseline for comparing candidates.

Include behavioural questions for instance that prompt candidates to share examples of past experiences, such as “Tell me about a time when you had to solve a complex problem under tight deadlines.” These questions help assess problem-solving abilities and past performance.

Relying solely on unstructured, conversational interviews can result in biassed evaluations and an incomplete assessment of the candidate’s suitability. A structured format ensures that all critical areas are covered and provides a fair basis for comparison.
