How to conduct job interviews

Section 1 : Prepare thoroughly

16%

Preparation is key to conducting effective job interviews. Start by reviewing the candidate's resume, cover letter and any other application materials. Familiarise yourself with their background, skills and experiences to tailor your questions accordingly.

For instance, if a candidate has listed project management experience, prepare questions that probe into specific projects they’ve managed, the challenges they faced and the outcomes achieved. This not only shows that you’ve done your homework but also helps you gather detailed insights into their capabilities.

Failing to prepare adequately can lead to generic questions and missed opportunities to explore a candidate’s unique qualifications. Thorough preparation ensures a more productive and focused interview.
