Bad reasons to start a business

Section 3 : Escaping a dissatisfying job

75%

Many people are tempted to start a business as an escape from a job they dislike. While dissatisfaction with your current job can be a signal that change is needed, using it as the sole reason to start a business is risky. Entrepreneurship is not a guaranteed solution to job dissatisfaction and can introduce new challenges and stressors that you may not anticipate.

Someone unhappy with their job might start a business thinking it will solve all their problems, only to discover that running a business is even more demanding and stressful than their previous job. Without a clear vision and proper planning, they might end up in a worse situation than before.

Evaluate whether your dissatisfaction stems from the job itself or deeper issues that might not be resolved by starting a business. Before making the leap, consider other career changes or improvements in your current situation that could bring satisfaction without the risks of entrepreneurship.
