Section 4 : Avoid interruptions

80%

Resist the urge to interrupt or finish the speaker’s sentences. Interruptions not only disrupt the speaker’s train of thought but also signal that you are more focused on your own ideas than on what they have to say. Even if you think you know what they’re going to say, it’s important to let them express themselves fully.

During a team meeting for example, let everyone finish their thoughts before responding. Doing so ensures that all viewpoints are heard and you avoid missing important information. Interrupting can stifle creativity and lead to frustration, whereas allowing people to express themselves develops an open and inclusive environment.
